  They Stone You When You Try to Figure Out....

  does this "ring a bell" with anyone?

  pardon the pun.

  i have a vague recollection of being a kid, and struggling to figure out how to reconcile the practice of execution by stoning with a loving god.

  When I was a JW, I never thought it was one big stone followed by other small stones. I always thought the people who did the stoning got to pick their own stone, some could pick real big rocks other could throw a grain of sand, or other could chose not to throw anything at all, as long as they were not a witness,.. because witnesses were to throw the first stone(s).

  ok i'm going to put this out there so all of you can support me by making me keep working.. i'm writing a novel based very loosely on my association with the witnesses.

  right now i've got about 175 pages of a planned 300 done.

  i keep letting other things get the way of my writing, and i've been semi-stuck for awhile.

  Can You Defend Yourself before a J. Committee?

  to those who have been before a judicial committee for apostacy.. the elders will ask you questions not for the purpose of finding out the truth, but to make sure they can df you.. at my appeal hearing serveral months ago i was questioned by the appeal committees to their satifaction, they even thanked me for my honesty, as it helped them get what they were looking for to make the original dfing stand.. after they were finished with their questions i ask if i could now defend myself and prove that i was telling the truth and not a biblical apostate.. the chairman informed me that i would not be allowed to defend myself.. i looked at all 8 brothers(2 committees 5 & 3) in total amazement at his refusal to allow me to defend myself.

  to them(8) it seem perfectly alright not to allow me to defend myself.. wow.. the chairman said they really were not a judicial court and did not need to be that concerned about doing things in harmony with what is concidered to be fair and right by worldly courts or the bible.

  in fact the chairman spent about 10 minutes trying to explain why they didn't have have to be fair in the legalistic way of courts.. .

  Yes you can appeal and win some times, BUT and here is the big buts:

  But if you are DF for apostacy, I don't think you stand a chance.

  Hypothetical case in point:
  Superior Authorities in Romans 13.
  Say it is before 1960 and you go around the congregation and start telling every one that absolutely no-way can the superior authorities be Jesus and Jehovah, but according to the context are the governments.
  So the elders form a judicial committee to DF you for apostacy. At this meeting you want to show why you are right, but they have to stick strickly to the WT explanation at the time.

  Will they let you use reason and common sense logic to prove your point? No.

  If after you get DF'd and appeal to the Society will they listen to your defense if it disagrees with their Official teaching on the subject, and reverse the elders desision to DF? NO!

  And lets say 2 years latter 1962(I think) they change back to Superior Authorities are now the Governments.
  Will they now reinstate you because you were right after all? NO.

  They will let you stay DF'd even if they were wrong to DF you, and you were right in your interpetation.

  Is that justice?

  Evolution and the Good conquering the Bad.

  one of the more popular teachings of evolution is the good in the long run conquers the bad.. what i mean is this:.

  there are both good and bad mutations and as life evolved to more and more complex forms the the process of selecting the good mutations and supresion of bad, by what ever means had to take place to make for instance:.

  the eye from just a light sensitive spot.. the human brain.. legs from fins and back fins again.. an apposable thumb.. the heart.. moral coscience.. walking upright.. i often wounder how evolution could make these things:.

  When I was first invited to appear before a JC I said OK but I will bring my lawyer.
  The 2 brothers that were inviting me said it was alright to bring a lawyer.
  The very next day they came to my shop at about 8 am, and said; "You was not allowed to bring a lawyer".
  I then proceeded to ask them what specifically was the charge, and they would not tell me, instead they beat around the bush, and asked me what I thought the charges were.
  I said "You are inviting me to a JC and you can't tell me what the charges are, but expect me to tell you what the charges are when you won't even tell me what they are?"

  Finally after me taunting them they came up with the charge of: "Speakinng Against the Organization".
  Did anyone ever hear of such a charge? That's the first time I ever heard of such a charge, I think they just made it up right there.

  Anyway I wrote the charge on a piece of paper, and asked them to sign it, to which they refused.
